About us - Our story

At the heart of HOP is relationship – building, supporting, encouraging, getting stuck in.

The idea of HOP came about during a Christmas gift project.
Watching kids, who might not receive anything for Christmas, opening a shoe box filled with gifts and sweets was wonderful.
But a thought niggled - what about the rest of the year? Why just a ‘once off’ at Christmas? What could be done to make a bigger, longer lasting impact on young kiddies?

Kerri-Ann, who heads up HOP, then got her family involved in brainstorming ideas and the means to achieve them. Her bestie, Lexi, who works in children's ministry got roped in. Together, with the other directors, they run HOP.
Having both been pre-school teachers, they know the importance of and highly value Early Year’s Education. They have a passion for helping littlies achieve developmental milestones that support them to succeed later on in life.

HOP is about building relationships with parents, teachers, carers and other child-centered nonprofits. It’s about supporting them in their role of educating the children in their care. Through ongoing visits and establishing connections HOP identifies needs that can be met with community based support. We also hope to encourage using what’s already in the hands of those who care. It takes a village to raise a child and a community to support their education. They are, after all, OUR pre-schoolers.
